Potential Landscape

Sunset - Mountain Silhouette
Im quite happy with this image

Though feedback & criticism is welcome as always

Environmental Portrait - Using available light

No-one has a shed like my Dad. He has something in every square centimeter of that shed. Here I have captured him tucked away in his place of thought. He goes here to think, remember & have time out from a world he's slowly finding difficult. The movement & clenching of his hands is an early onset of an illness he's recently been diagnosed with. It was quite difficult to get him to hold still as his body physically does not allow him to stop moving due to this illness.

A hollywood lighting approach with directional light from the skylight above separates him nicely from his surroundings. His eyes somewhat shaded to give a sense of the mystery behind his time. My Dad is a strong strong figure in my life, I know him well but even I still feel there is a lot left untold behind those eyes. As a child I was always fascinated with my Dads tattoos (probably why I now have them myself). I have always found comfort in knowing my Mum & Dads names together we're a permanent part of my Dad, that of which he had tattooed on the arm along with a heart being held on tight by an eagle, a sign of a loving bond held close to his own heart never to be broken. The other arm bearing the Polish emblem, another eagle. As his parents had descended from Poland in War times. Dad had grown up knowing only the Polish culture & had spoken Polish his whole life. It was not till his schooling days that he would learn to speak & understand english though it remained his second language behind Polish till he met my Mum.

An element of cheekiness reflected in the pin-up poster featured top right hand corner. Any man who has a shed he's built many many cars in should come complete with posters of pin-up girls. A performance car scene is not complete without it's pin-up girls (another interest influence - cars & pin-up photography).

The depth of field is enough to give a little foreground interest & surroundings without taking away from the subject himself.

Overall Im very happy with the result after reshooting. This will be a very sentimental piece of folio work that I know I'll look at again & again for years to come.

Using DOF as a means of somewhat creating foreground interest

I wish this was sharp - An idea I had for my folio

For our industrial workshop we headed out on location to Canberra Milk.
I have to admit my images are quite amateur, I had a very off day & am currently feeling a little lost as a photographer. I feel as though everyone is excelling around me & I just don't seem to get a lot of things. Fingers crossed I get past that feeling soon!

Besides that point, here are the results of the adventure. I enjoyed the excerise & appreciated Canberra Milk taking us in. Again thanks to Cameron for his organising of the workshop.
